SubnetShuffle
Free Day One demo · by Purr Factory Games™
Keep the parcels moving. Keep Raven out.
Welcome to Corrugated Ambitions Ltd (motto: "We think inside the box"), makers of the Unbreakabox. You're the new network engineer. Your predecessor left on Friday and took the documentation with them. All you've got is a comms cupboard full of spaghetti and an office cat with a taste for Cat6.
Rotate the cables, light up the network and get every desk, laptop and camera online before anyone notices. Then find out who keeps signing the firewall logs "– R."
What's in the demo
- All of Chapter 1, "Day One" (OSI Layer 1, Physical): 8 levels. These include Reception is offline, Wi-Fi for the boardroom, The 140-metre cable, Fibre to the warehouse, The cat did it, Power over Ethernet and Coffee o'clock.
- Real networking, lightly simplified. Cat6 copper and its 100-metre limit, fibre, switches, Wi-Fi range and channels, PoE. Every level ends with "What you learned".
- Three difficulties. Apprentice (Easy), Engineer (Normal) and Architect (Hard), "for people who dream in binary".
- A wallet and a salary. You earn pay, buy hints, and on Normal pay €10 a go for the subnet calculator.
- Three stars per level. One for finishing, one for few moves and one for speed. Unauthorised "cowboy changes" cost a star.
- The cast. Mags (Security), Derek (Change Management, accepts bribes in neither cash nor biscuits), Victoria (CEO, wants it done yesterday), Jay (Helpdesk, "tidies" things), Bridget Severin (Incident Manager, declares a severity for everything, including the coffee machine) and the mysterious Raven.
- Sal. A ginger Maine Coon the size of a small sofa. Head of Cable Testing (unofficial, mostly by chewing). He believes every box in the building is his. He is correct.
- Light, dark and system themes, generated sound effects, and story scenes you can switch off.
This is a demo
The full game has 39 levels in 7 chapters, one per OSI layer: routers, firewalls, VLANs, subnetting, rulebases, certificates and Audit Day. The demo covers Day One only. The full game will follow later on Steam or on purrfactorygames.com.
How to play
- Click or tap a tile to rotate it 90°. Padlocked tiles stay put.
- Connect every device, then press Send traffic. The test plan shows which flows must work (and, later, which attacks must fail).
- Keyboard: arrow keys move, Enter/Space rotates, Tab reaches the panels, Z undoes, C sends traffic.

Corrugated Ambitions Ltd and everyone in it are fictional. Any resemblance to your own office is purely depressing.
